摘要: In four experiments, listeners' response times to detect vowel targets in spoken input were measured. The first three experiments conducted English. two, one using real words and the other, nonwords, detection accuracy was low, initial syllables detected more slowly than final syllables, both time missed-response rate inversely correlated with duration. a third experiment, speech context for some subjects included all English vowels, while others, only five relatively distinct vowels occurred. This manipulation had essentially no effect, same pattern again observed. A fourth Spanish, replicated results except that miss here unrelated We propose responses naturally are effectively cautious, reflecting realistic appreciation of variability natural context.
