Recent developments in planetary Aeolian studies and their terrestrial analogs

摘要: This report summarizes the many advances that have been made in study of planetary Aeolian processes taken place since first Planetary Dunes Workshop was held May 2008, through 2011. Many recent studies are facilitated by wealth and variety high resolution imaging spectra data still being returned multiple spacecraft orbit on surface Mars, as well Cassini radar for unique linear dunes Titan, large moon Saturn. The is divided into seven broad topics: exploring Martian rock record, action wind, sediment composition, transport, bedforms, modification processes, Titan. Analog terrestrial landforms continue to improve our understanding operation other surfaces each these topics. Four subjects likely see increased emphasis during coming years: aeolianites, sand compositional diversity, active versus inactive features, deposition erosion. Continued growth literature expected several provide high-quality data, including successful arrival Curiosity rover at Mars August 2012.
