摘要: Abstract The hierarchical structures of silica-filled silicone rubber have been investigated by using contrast variation small-angle neutron scattering (CV-SANS) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). A series intensities swollen samples were measured with varying ratio hydrogenated toluene/deuterated toluene solvent. By CV-SANS method, the partial functions, self-terms silica S SS ( q ) RR ), as well cross-term between RS are successfully extracted. fine parameterization morphology is characterized elucidated adopting unified Guinier-exponential/power-law equations, fitted results indicate: (i) volume fraction in bound matrix regions, respectively 0.80 0.31. Such spatial inhomogeneous swelling suggests that there existence immobilized layer; (ii) average aggregation size ca . 143 nm, about 24–97 particles each aggregation; (iii) thickness estimated range 7.2–8.5 nm. mimic collection observation aggregations TEM confirm results. Current work provided a scenario to evaluate reinforcement effect on even before any mechanical testing.
