摘要: Malacological surveys carried out in the early 1970s water bodies of Kinshasa area, Lower Zaire (Democratic Republic Congo), showed appearance a Biomphalaria species which was identified as camerunensis. In 1976, other confirmed presence several sites and numerous infected snails with Schistosoma mansoni, demonstrating for first time an active transmission parasite responsible intestinal schistosomiasis this area. The most recent malacological sampling by one us 1994 Mangungu River revealed apparently same snail species. However, conchological, anatomical molecular studies that may be considered introduced neotropical species, B. tenagophila. To our knowledge, is second example introduction host schistosomes into Africa.
