摘要: Lithium is an integral drug used in the management of acute mania, unipolar and bipolar depression prophylaxis disorders. The aim present study was to observe histological changes liver lithium carbonate treated Albino rats. Sixty albino rats were taken divided into two groups, group A (control group) 15 animals, fed with normal diet B 45 along at dose 30mgs/kgm body weight daily. animals sacrificed four, eight twelve week's interval, excised, 5µm thick sections prepared stained Haematoxylin Eosin stain. On microscopic examination, as treatment continued capsule remained intact, there hepatic degeneration, followed by necrosis cyst formation. There Kupffer cell hyperplasia, central vein congestion portal triads infiltrated lymphocytes plasma cells. Liver parenchyma lymphocyte, giving hepatitis like picture. It can be concluded that on long term causes necrosis. So, it advised patients therapy should periodically evaluated for dysfunction.
