Impact of health education and condom distribution on incidence of RTI/STI among the newly married urban poor women in Delhi.

摘要: This study was carried out to find the impact of a specially designed preventive intervention on menstrual and sexual hygiene practices incidence RTI/STI among newly married women. A community based with controls conducted in two resettlement colonies Delhi. Total 74 subjects group 71 control were studied. Each subject followed up for 9 months every three monthly. The package included education about hygiene, RTI/STIs contraceptive usage, packets condoms. diagnosed using syndromic approach. Only 2 8 respectively used condoms (p>0.05 after adjustment). Practice washing genitals improved (p<0.05 both without 19 (25.68%) women 22 (30.99%) (p=0.478) reported symptoms during period; adjusting other variables OR=0.37 (p=0.007). 57.89% patients consulted doctor as compared 18.18% (p<0.05). Increasing awareness providing at very beginning life can modify some high risk behaviors thus reduce acquiring RTI/STIs.
