Preliminary Results of Bitumen and Whole-Rock Elemental Analyses of CRP-2/2A, Victoria Land Basin, Antarctica

摘要: Sediments and rocks recovered in CRP-2/2A coring operations contain relatively little organic matter (average TOC=0.28%) very small amounts of solvent-soluble matter. Because Early Oligocene sediment included significant coal detritus, TOC values are higher than younger rocks. highest the fine-grained deposited as part highstand systems tract (HST) decrease from bottom to top HST. The TOC:TN ratios observed core typically exceed 10, strong evidence that preserved comprises a mixture detrital aquatic Solvent-soluble autochthonous bitumen derived matter, allochthonous deeper sedimentary rocks, recycled detritus.
