Treatment of difficult TRAM flap hernias using intraperitoneal synthetic mesh application.

摘要: The authors report the successful repair of large lower abdominal hernia defects after transverse rectus abdominis muscle (TRAM) flap breast reconstruction in 11 patients using a technique intraperitoneal application synthetic polypropylene (Prolene) mesh anchored to peritoneal surface wall tissues. Five these had previously failed repairs unipedicle TRAM employing onlay technique, with two having undergone three previous repairs. other six developed hernias bipedicle without supplementation repair. After their repairs, all healed difficulty and demonstrated no sign recurrence an 8 36-month follow-up. Each patient returned her activity level before reconstruction.
