摘要: Conservation planning and biodiversity assessments need quantitative targets to optimize options assess the adequacy of current species protection. However, aiming at persistence require population-specific data, which limit their use in favor fixed nonspecific targets, likely leading unequal distribution conservation efforts among species. We devised a method derive equitable population targets; that is, size ensure equal probabilities across set can be easily inferred from species-specific traits. In our method, we used models dynamics range life-history traits related species' body mass estimate minimum viable targets. applied masses mammals, 2 g 3825 kg. The decreased asymptotically with increasing were on same order magnitude as estimates species- context-specific studies. Our approach provides compromise between pragmatic, detailed viability for only limited data are available. It enables first estimation based readily available trait thus allows setting large-scale multispecies planning.
