摘要: Salmonella typhimurium strain 3333/O was used to assess the role of bacterial lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in intestinal colonization broiler chicks by salmonellae. LPS-defective TnPhoA mutants this were isolated. The sensitivities smooth and rough phages LPS banding patterns sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis indicated a defect polysaccharide side chain molecule. Colonization determined orally administering 10(8) cells each wild-type and/or mutant strains per chick counting colony-forming units (CFU) from ceca 1 3 weeks after gavage. CFU given LPS-deficient either not detected or significantly lower than strain. incidence spleens higher strains. In vitro binding studies with derived study S. LT2 suggest that side-chain components may shield cell entrapment chicken mucus. layer appears enhance persistence avian tract.
