摘要: Land-use change models can help to develop a holistic understanding of the range potential impacts different land-use related policy options, and so strengthen development implementation policies meet objectives, including biodiversity conservation, climate mitigation, sustainable food security. Brazil’s Native Vegetation Protection Act, commonly known as Forest Code (FC), is one example that be used achieve several objectives. Using modelling inform ongoing decisions on how provisions FC are put into practice increase its effectiveness in meeting multiple objectives commitments. Model projections show full will both reduce emissions greenhouse gases contribute conserving Brazil. They further highlight importance for conservation implementing Environmental Reserve Tradable Certificate (CRA Portuguese) mechanism quickly effectively. Model results also need place additional measures protect areas, such Caatinga forests grassy savanna Cerrado, which may suffer increased pressures result FC.
