摘要: The allochthonous terranes of northwest Iberia can be correlated with specific paleogeographic realms the continental masses and intervening oceans involved in Variscan collision. Assuming that existing ophiolites represent suture formed by closure the Rheic ocean, units footwall to correspond outer edge Gondwana continental margin, hanging wall are interpreted as fragments the conjugate represented Meguma terrane. This correlation establishes a precise link between circum-Atlantic terranes, makes it possible draw relatively simple scenario of successive tectonothermal events recorded. Following amalgamation Avalon to Laurentia, remaining outboard underwent progressive accretion this continent that ended collision Laurentia Gondwana.
