摘要: During the past 20 years, China has increasingly invested in ecological restoration programs that addressed protection of its existing natural forests and degraded lands. Since late 1990s, launched several nationwide aimed both at solving regional environmental problems improving domestic conditions rural livelihoods. Remarkable progress been made achieving program goals. Overall, those have profoundly positively impacted China’s environment, economy society. However, restoring severely remains a great challenge: resolving conflicts among people’s basic livelihoods, economic growth, forests, forests. Careful evaluation effectiveness long-term impacts these is needed, light pending policy technical issues. In this chapter, we provide synthesis recent forest efforts progress, including information on six major identify social challenges key scientific We examine how evolving forestry strategy reform benefit restoration. To be sustainable endeavors, must adopt more balanced comprehensive approach. Such an approach would include promoting forestry, adopting integrated management, increasing through land ownership reform, effective collaborations central government, state local people, expanding research to improve understanding, enhancing training education.
