摘要: Parasitic nematodes are among the most common and economically important infectious diseases of grazing livestock, especially in small ruminants tropics subtropics Kenya control gastrointestinal nematode infections sheep goats is usually made with synthetic anthelmintics but substantial levels anthelmintic resistance have been recorded. A number medicinal plants, that may provide possible alternatives, used by pastoralists smallholder farmers as deworming agents for their livestock equines, namely Aframomum sanguineum, Dodonea angustifolia, Hildebrandtia sepalosa, Myrsine africana, Rapanea melanophloeos from Kenya, Azadirachta indica Malaysia, together chemicals embelin santonin occur some these were evaluated against Heligmosomoides polygyrus mice. Commercial anthelmintics, ivermectin, pyrantel piperazine, also investigated, both to validate mouse model system assess efficacy drugs H. polygyrus. Pyrantel ivermectin highly effective reducing numbers worms well eggs faeces mice, piperazine had a lower activity. Application M. africana significantly reduced total worm counts (TWC) not faecal egg (FEC). The use embelin, R. A. FEC TWC. In all cases, however, reductions below priori level 70% required biological significance. D. angustifolia sepalosa no effect on either TWC or FEC. conclusion, none plant preparations any biologically significant this monogastric host-parasite system.
