摘要: Abstract In the present study, aluminium A356 alloy was reinforced with SiC particles using compocasting techniques and effects of casting temperature on composite properties were investigated. Different volume fractions various sizes incorporated into semisolid by a mechanical stirrer. Then slurry poured permanent die certain dimensions pre-heated to temperatures either when metal partially solid (semisolid–semisolid or SS route) after reheating above liquidus (semisolid–liquid SL route). Microstructural characterisation studies conducted samples revealed more uniform distribution particulates (at microscopic scale) less porosity content compared samples, regardless mould pre-heat size particles. However, observed settling (when tall mould) pronounced. Results pin ring wear test demonstrated an increase in resistance case matrix samples. These observations finally rationalised terms temperature, which resulted variations microstructural characteristics formation globular dendritic microstructures for respectively.
