Evaluating Urban Expansion of Beijing during 1973-2013, by Using GIS and Remote Sensing

摘要: This paper presents an integrated study about the urban expansion process in Beijing from 1973 to 2013. Annual area index, gravity center transfer model, fractal dimension index and elastic coefficient or expansion-population growth are employed explore temporal spatial characteristics of expansion. The results reveal that underwent seven different stages, including one slow steady stage, three fast shot deceleration past 40 years. centroid lands moved southeast boundaries became more complex irregular. Urbane speed was not harmonized with population distinctly 1987-1998, 2000-2003 1998-2000. can provide scientific data for planning related studies depth.
