摘要: The installation of the world's first unified power flow controller (UPFC) has been completed and a series commissioning tests were conducted at Inez Substation American Electric Power (AEP) in eastern Kentucky. project is collaborative effort between AEP, Westinghouse Corporation, Research Institute (EPRI). Comprising two /spl plusmn/160 MVA voltage-sourced GTO-thyristor-based inverters, this large-scale practical demonstration UPFC concept, its completion significant milestone progress electronics technology for flexible AC transmission system (FACTS). This paper briefly reviews main features discusses operation equipment. A collection measured performance characteristics presented to illustrate unique capabilities UPFC. These dynamic measurements made course commissioning, they graphically ability independently control real reactive on line, while also regulating local bus voltage. results include inverter Inez, operating stand-alone mode. test constitutes static synchronous compensator (SSSC) concept.
