摘要: We review technical and sociological issues facing the Life Sciences as they transform into more data-centric disciplines - “Big New Biology”. Three major challenges are: 1) lack of comprehensive standards; 2) incentives for individual scientists to share data; 3) appropriate infrastructure support. Technological advances with standards, bandwidth, distributed computing, exemplar successes, a strong presence in emerging world Linked Open Data are sufficient conclude that will be overcome foreseeable future. While motivated have shared open data pool, pressured by funding agencies move this direction, determine progress. Major include our understanding heterogeneous cultures within Sciences, impediments progress build infrastructures projects institutions or encourage make openly available.
