FREQUENCY OF SPLENOMEGALY IN DENGUE FEVER IN CHILDREN.

摘要: Background: Dengue Fever is caused by arthropod born viruses.According to World Health Organization approximately 50–100 million infections of dengue fever occur yearly. Objective this study was determine the frequency splenomegaly in children. Methods: This cross sectional conducted at Department Paediatrics, Allied Hospital, Faisalabad, during a period from June 2012 May 2013 including 93 Children, aged 4–14 years presenting with less than 14 days thrombocytopenia and positive IgM or IgG antibodies ELISA. Patients were thoroughly evaluated detailed history clinical examination. Ultrasonography patients performed confirm splenomegaly. The data analysed percentage disease. Results: Out children, 51 (54.8%) male 42 (45.2%) female. most common presentation noted chills rigors 80 (86.02%). Unusual features encephalopathy 37 (39.78%) followed bleeding manifestations upper respiratory tract infection (upper RTI). Splenomegaly seen 45 (48.4%) Conclusion: increasingly atypical like splenomegaly, encephalopathy, RTI. Keywords: fever, Splenomegaly, Atypical
