摘要: Problem: The increasing availability of large vegetation databases holds great potential in ecological research and biodiversity informatics, However, inconsistent application plant names compromises the usefulness these databases. This problem has been acknowledged recent years, solutions have proposed, such as concept “potential taxa” or “taxon views”. Unfortunately, awareness remains low among scientists. Methods: We demonstrate how misleading interpretations caused by use might occur through course analysis, from releves upward databases, then to final analyses. discuss problems be minimized. Results: highlight importance taxonomic reference lists for standardizing outline standards they should fulfill useful Additionally, we present R package vegdata, which is designed solve name-related that arise when analysing databases. Conclusions: conclude giving more consideration appropriate names, scientists enhance reliability analyses obtained
