Condylar resorption in orthognathic surgery: The role of intermaxillary fixation

摘要: Abstract Condylar resorption that occurs after orthognathic surgery was investigated in a large sample of patients treated the Department Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Free University Amsterdam, Netherlands. The findings correspond with previous publications on this subject. In 1-year follow-up study role intermaxillary fixation radiologically. group 158 prone to show occurrence condylar resorption, 24 (26.4%) 91 showed signs resorption. 67 without only eight (11.9%) reduced volume condyle. Avoidence seems reduce incidence mandibular deficiency high plane angle.
