摘要: A novel motion representation and estimation scheme is presented that leads to improved coding efficiency of block-based video coders like, e.g., H.263. The proposed based on motion-compensated prediction from more than one reference frame. pictures are warped or globally versions the previous Affine models used as warping parameters approximating vector field. Motion compensation performed using standard block matching in multiple frames buffer. frame affine transmitted side information. approach incorporated into an H.263-based codec at minor syntax changes embedded a rate-constrained macroblock mode decision work. In contrast conventional global compensation, where model transmitted, we show benefit terms efficiency. Significant gains comparison TMN-10, test H.263+, achieved provide bit-rate savings between 20% 35% for various sequences tested.
