摘要: Abstract This paper focuses on the reduction of interfacial stresses when using bonded laminates in strengthening existing structures. The presence high that develop near end composite known as edge effect may compromise resistance to failure strengthened structure. It is decrease plate thickness and fitness adhesive (Young modulus) reduces stress concentration at ends. Another way tackle problem proper design shape (tapered plate) mixed joints (MAJs) between adherents. In this paper, a comprehensive finite element (FE) study has been conducted investigate tapering distribution layer retrofitted steel beam with fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) plate, results indicate correct combination can reduce magnitude significantly.
