摘要: The present study evaluates the effect of long term intake aspartame, artificial sweetener, on liver antioxidant system and hepatocellular injury in animal model. Eighteen adult male Wistar rats, weighing 150-175 g, were randomly divided into three groups as follows: first group was given aspartame dissolved water a dose 500 mg/kg b.wt.; second 1000 controls freely. Rats that had received (1000 b.wt.) drinking for 180 days showed significant increase activities alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate (AST), alkaline phosphatase (ALP) γ-glutamyl transferase (GGT). concentration reduced glutathione (GSH) activity peroxidase (GPx), reductase (GR) significantly rats b.wt.). Glutathione decreased both experimental groups. Histopathological examination revealed leukocyte infiltration aspartame-treated It can be concluded from these observations consumption leads to alterations status mainly through dependent system.
