摘要: Purpose Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is a progressive disease with multifactorial etiology. There need to identify clinical features that are harbingers of advanced disease. We evaluated morphologic the retina and choroid on optical coherence tomography (OCT) determine if they predict progression Methods Progressors transitioned from early or intermediate AMD (n = 40 eyes), were matched baseline grade follow-up interval nonprogressors who did not develop eyes). Features neurosensory retina, photoreceptors, retinal pigment epithelium (RPE), evaluated. Logistic regression was used evaluate univariate associations between overall AMD, geographic atrophy (GA), neovascular (NV). Multivariate based stepwise models also assessed. Results Ellipsoid zone disruption associated NV (odds ratios [ORs]: 17.9 30.6; P < 0.001), similar trend observed for GA. Drusenoid RPE detachment, thickening, pigmentary hyperreflective material significantly higher risk (ORs: 5.0-8.5) 10.8-17.2). Pigmentary GA (OR: 7.5, 0.009). Total thickness, material, nascent features, choroidal vessel abnormalities independently in multivariate model. Conclusions Abnormalities RPE, developing AMD. These findings provide insights into progression, may be helpful earlier endpoints studies.
