How Accurate Is Brain Volumetry? A Methodological Evaluation.

摘要: We evaluate the accuracy and precision of different techniques for measuring brain volumes based on MRI. compare two established software packages that offer an automated image analysis, EMS SIENAX, a third method, which we present. The latter is Interactive Watershed Trans- form model histogram analysis. All methods are evaluated with respect to noise, inhomogeneity, resolution as well inter-examination inter-scanner characteristics 66 phantom volunteer images. Furthermore, N3 nonuniformity correction improving robustness re- producibility. Despite conceptual similarity SIENAX EMS, important differences revealed. Finally, volumetric inves- tigated using ground truth BrainWeb phantom.
