摘要: Abstract Objective To evaluate the possible relationship between serum 25-OH vitamin D levels and visually evoked potentials (VEP) in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS), residents south zone of Gran Canaria. Material methods The study included 49 MS, on whom 25-OH-vitamin was determined, along VEP, a neurological examination to determine incapacity. Clinical variables, such as history optic neuritis were recorded. Results mean value 28.1 ± 9.5 ng/ml. VEP latency 119.1 ± 23.2 ms amplitude, 8.5 ± 4.4 μV. Patients higher had greater number outbreaks year prior ( p = 0.049), those deficiency previous showed no reduction amplitude = 0.006). Conclusion have lower clinical activity MS show axonal involvement after having suffered neuritis. These relationships, although statistically significant, do not seem clinically plausible, thus new studies are needed try confirm this relationship.
