Autocorrelation function of the single PC polarization-mode dispersion emulator

摘要: The discrete structure of multisection polarization-mode dispersion (PMD) emulators is known to artificially correlate the PMD affecting different channels in a wavelength-division multiplexing system, thus limiting their usefulness accurately emulating broad-band PMD. We report on correlation properties novel single polarization controller (PC) emulator, which offers scalability with number emulator sections through component reuse. background level frequency autocorrelation function 0.66%, for 50-section lowest experimentally demonstrated makes PC an instrument choice research and development mitigation strategies.
