Combinatorial polarization scramblers for many-segment PMD emulator

摘要: In this letter, we present a combinatorial approach to build polarization scramblers in many-segment polarization-mode dispersion (PMD) emulator. This significantly reduces the required number of phase plates and their corresponding controls. It exploits fact that rotation matrices are noncommutative which gives many different ways building out just few plates. Although these correlated, show, numerically experimentally, there is sufficient scrambling between segments achieve important key properties PMD
