摘要: Abstract The aim of this work is to investigate design improvements a shell-and-tube latent heat thermal energy storage unit using an approach based on the analysis entropy generation. study conducted by means computational fluid-dynamic (CFD) model which takes into account phase change phenomenon enthalpy method. Thermal-fluid dynamic problem solved both for material (PCM) and transfer fluid (HTF). different contributions local generation rate are computed presented un-finned finned systems. Fin arrangement then modified according with distribution in order increase efficiency system. results show that improved system allows reduce PCM solidification time Second-law efficiency. present paper constitutes first detailed investigation evolution occurring during unsteady process.
