Different patterns of p16 immunoreactivity in cervical biopsies: correlation to lesion grade and HPV detection, with a review of the literature.

摘要: p16 is one extensively studied marker in gynecological pathology. However, its routine application the diagnosis of squamous intraepithelial lesions uterine cervix may present difficulties for general pathologist. The aim study was to examine a series 100 cervical biopsies/LEEP specimens, with detailed HPV-typing, patterns immunoreactivity and possible correlations morphology HPV types. Four immunopositivity were recognized, according distribution positively stained cells, these correlated lesion grade. A review pertinent literature concerning nonneoplastic epithelia included an effort summarize existing data remaining questions at both practical theoretical level.
