摘要: Trees include some of the longest-lived organisms on Earth and gathering comprehensive data about them may take decades or even centuries. The long-standing problems identifying, preserving making accessible printed hand-written information, which will be use to future generations, have now been joined by new challenges in handling electronic multimedia sources, often short-lived formats overwhelming volume. This paper reviews initiatives at local, national international level, are seeking support sustainable forest management through illustrating with a case study century-old Oxford Forest Information Service.
