摘要: The history of wild and cultivated plant diversity in Uganda is reviewed, taking forest species bananas as examples. Palynological research into past human influences on forests reassessed. evidence suggests that crops were first introduced the country at about 1000 BCE, farming communities practicing slash burn agriculture started to significantly influence floristic composition during 1st millennium BCE there was a major episode reduction 1000 CE related socio-economic change. Bananas probably early centuries CE. colonial era from 1894 saw introduction new concepts land ownership establishment reserves agricultural stations. Forests banana are currently under threat, having very high rate deforestation endemic varieties proving susceptible pests diseases. It suggested that, these circumstances, conservationists take an opportunistic approach field engagement, making use favourable local conditions they arise. Partnerships should be sought with elements society concerned sustainable use, provision ecosystem services cultural survival widen social base conservation. International organisations involved conservation genetic resources collaborate one another develop conceptual basis conservation, make it more relevant countries like Uganda.
