摘要: Abstract Objectives To systematically review and synthesize the literature on costs of atrial fibrillation (AF) with attention to study design costing methods, geography, intervention approaches. Methods A systematic search for previously published studies reporting AF patients was conducted. Data were analyzed in three steps: first by evaluating overall system costs; second relative contribution specific cost components; third examining variations across designs, primary treatment approach, geography. Finally, a associated anticoagulation examined given clinical importance these literature. Results The resulted 115 articles. On abstracts or full text articles, 21 articles met all criteria reported health AF-related direct costs. further six focused exclusively AF. average annual 27 estimates obtained from $5450 (SD = $3624) 2010 Canadian dollars ranged low $1,632 high $21,099. About one-third could be attributed management. largest component acute care, followed outpatient physician then medication-related Conclusion medical are high, reflecting resource-intensive long-term treatments including treatment. These costs, accompanied increasing prevalence, justify increased management Future should ensure broad assessment incremental societal this diagnosis.
