摘要: Adalia bipunctata, the two spot ladybird, carries a vertically transmitted bacterial agent which kills male progeny during embryogenesis. Some matrilines of A. bipunctata give rise to strongly female-biased sex ratios. 16S rDNA sequence analysis revealed bacterium genus Rickettsia associated with this trait, conclusion is corroborated here. Using light microscopy, an association between located in hemocyte cytoplasm and show ratio trait was found. This element not found hemocytes taken from females normal lines, nor males. The confirmed by study inheritance trait. Only daughters crosses that bear cytoplasmic also other being respect ratio. Transmission electron microscopy walled bacterium, bearing features members Rickettsia, free infected but those uninfected lines.
