摘要: We describe a device for fabricating high-precision free-standing grids of fine wire, suitable use as polarizing elements radiation at millimeter and submillimeter wavelengths. Computer control the winding process makes changing grid parameters particularly convenient flexible. present measurements mechanical uniformity optical performance wire polarizers made with 25 μm 10 diameter wire. The flexibility computer is exploited to introduce known degree randomness in pitch (center-to-center spacing), allowing dependence polarizer quality on be quantified. This information allows prediction fabrication tolerances required used very high frequencies.
