In this paper, disease characteristics at initial presentation and during follow-up are described in 1,745 primary cases documented prospectively Netherlands. The risk recurrent after treatment very high: 60% cases, least one recurrence diagnosed within 5 years (95% CI: 58-62%). a small solitary pTa grade 1 tumour, 3-year 37%. multiple large high pT1 tumours, as 77%, despite significant beneficial effect adjuvant intravesical chemotherapy. actuarial progression 10.2% 3 8.6-11.8%). This depends on patient's age diagnosis, tumour stage, grade, multiplicity presence dysplasia or CIS random urothelium biopsies. use instillations chemotherapy BCG vaccine TUR does prevent progressive although finding difficult to interpret from non-randomised study. 5-year relative survival TCC 86% 84-88%).
