Differences between specific and generalized problematic Internet uses according to gender, age, time spent online and psychopathological symptoms

摘要: Some specific problematic Internet uses present a great impact on generalized use.Gender and age play an important role uses.This study revives debate the distinction between uses. addiction has been subject of numerous studies, but definitions, classification terminologies for this phenomenon diverge. Thus, it appears to distinguish Generalized Problematic Use (GPIU) Specific Uses (SPIU). Our main objective was explore relationships GPIU, SPIU psychopathological symptoms according gender category. A sample 378 participants aged 18 65years old (M=24.4, SD=8.3) completed set questionnaires measuring related communication, video music, information seeking, work, sex, gaming, gambling, shopping, time spent online, depressive symptoms, self-esteem satisfaction with life. Correlations regressions analysis revealed significant GPIU our variables, except SPIUgambling, many differences males females adults young adults. SPIUcom predictor among four groups, SPIUinfo, SPIUgaming were women, men adults, SPIUvideo online also women To knowledge, is first so SPIU, particularly in French More important, results contribute advance field PIU by highlighting each PIU, variables that should be seriously considered future research.
