摘要: We present an overview of the structure and properties clean steps at surfaces binary oxides, utilising recent data from scanning probe spectroscopic experiments, theoretical calculations. review discuss their atomic structure, electronic interactions with prototypical point defects, using examples studies on technologically important oxides such as MgO, CeO2, TiO2 ZrO2. also methods calculating step formation energy, reasons for limited success in explaining structures observed experiments.
