摘要: Molecular tools perform at their best when integrated with other data and approaches. The value of integrating approaches is especially high the underlying genetic signal relatively weak, as occurs in many marine species. Recently, studies combining genetic, oceanographic, behavioural modelling have provided new insights into spatial ecology populations, particular regarding larval migration, barriers to dispersal source-sink population dynamics. In this perspectives piece, we explore advantages a multidisciplinary approach genetics by (i) providing synthesis what has been learned about connectivity from that combine tools, (ii) discussing how incorporation ecological oceanographic information alternative hypotheses can boost inference power low, (iii) summarizing recent innovations statistical enable seamless integration ecological, environmental data. These topics are covered context inferences contribute pressing questions facing conservation management.
