摘要: Background Different diagnostic test kits are used for rapid diagnosis of malaria. Most based on antigen detection (pLDH, Pan Aldolase, HRP-2). In context Nepal the reliability and sensitivity these tests is unknown. Hexagon Malaria Combi™ one most commonly kit in The aim present study to evaluate malaria Combi comparison with parasitic density by microscopy technique. Methods A Cross sectional prospective was conducted three districts from September November 2009. Blood samples were collected suspected cases Thick thin smear prepared all Giemsa stain done. Simultaneously RDT (hexagon) When found be positive, blood serially diluted 6 tubes as 1:2, 1:4, 1:8, 1:16, 1:32 1:64. done till gave negative result. Parasitic calculated undiluted various densities calculated. Results combi sensitive (86%) when malarial >500/μl. Sensitivity directly related density. Its very low (2.9%) less than 500/ μl. Conclusions (hexagon detecting pLDH antigen) high only if more 500/μl.
