摘要: Rapid diagnostic tests (RDTs) are the current complement to microscopy for ensuring prompt malaria treatment. We determined performance of three candidate RDTs (Paracheck™-Pf, SD Bioline Ag-Pf and Ag-Pf/pan) rapid diagnosis in Central African Republic. Blood samples from consecutive febrile patients who attended laboratory analysis at main health centres Bangui were screened by RDTs. Two reference standards used assess RDTs: and, a combination plus nested PCR slides reported as negative, on assumption that negative results due sub-patent parasitaemia. analysed 436 samples. Using combined standard microscopy + PCR, sensitivity Paracheck™-Pf was 85.7% (95% CI, 80.8–89.8%), 85.4% 80.5–90.7%), Ag-Pf/pan 88.2% 83.2–92.0%). The performed less well cases low parasitaemia; however, was > 95% at > 500 parasites/μl. Overall, slightly better than Paracheck™-Pf. Use RDTs with reinforced practice quality assurance should improve treatment
