摘要: The basolateral amygdala (BLA) and ventral hippocampus (vHPC) have both been implicated in mediating anxiety-related behaviors, but the functional contribution of BLA inputs to vHPC has never directly investigated. Here we show that activation BLA-vHPC synapses acutely robustly increased while inhibition decreased behaviors. We combined optogenetic approaches with vivo pharmacological manipulations ex whole-cell patch-clamp recordings dissect local circuit mechanisms, demonstrating terminals provided monosynaptic, glutamatergic pyramidal neurons. Furthermore, exerted polysynaptic, inhibitory effects mediated by interneurons may serve balance locally. These data establish a role for bidirectionally controlling behaviors an immediate, yet reversible, manner model mechanism vHPC.
