River suspended sediment modelling using a fuzzy logic approach

摘要: Correct estimation of sediment volume carried by a river is very important for many water resources projects. Conventional rating curves, however, are not able to provide sufficiently accurate results. In this paper, fuzzy logic approach proposed estimate suspended concentration from streamflow. This study provides forecasting benchmarks prediction in the form numerical and graphical comparison between rating-curve models. Benchmarking was based on 5-year period continuous streamflow data Quebrada Blanca Station operated United States Geological Survey. The benchmark results showed that model produce much better than site specific does simulate hysteresis effects. Copyright © 2006 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
