Effects of β-Mercaptoethanol on the Growth of Preantral Follicles and the Maturation of Intrafollicular Oocytes

摘要: This study was undertaken to evaluate how β-mercaptoethanol (bME), an exogenous antioxidant, interacts with preantral follicles cultured in vitro. Mouse primary or secondary were glutathione (GSH)-free GSH-containing medium supplemented bME of various concentrations, and the growth follicles, maturation intrafollicular oocytes preimplantation development after parthenogenesis monitored. In experiment 1, 0, 25, 50 100 μM added culture GSH not. When GSH-free medium, no significant change follicle detected addition. However, exposure presence significantly inhibited both oocyte maturation. Such detrimental effect became prominent strongly absence GSH. conclusion, there are stage-dependent effects on maturation, selective use antioxidants contributes establishing efficient system.
