摘要: Abstract 1. The sound-producing (sonic) muscles of the squirrelfish, Holocentrus rufus , in response to motor nerve stimulation, are capable contraciting at a frequency 100/sec witn no mechanical summation and achieve fusion frequencies above 200/sec. 2. A fast white dorsal muscle same fish was similarly studied for comparative purposes. This showed considerable 50/sec complete 100/sec. 3. Thus sonic is vibrating swimbladder order produce sounds with fundamental this value. 4. There were significant differences between squirrelfish respect ot amplitudes time courses their resting, end-plate action potentials. 5. only electrophysiology difference found that after neurogenically evoked potential, produced prolonged after-conductance lasting 10–15 msec. while dorsan muscles' lasted 1–2 6. may be attributed an elaborated sarcoplasmic reticulum those systems.
