摘要: Nitrosomonas europaea is an obligate chemolithoautotroph which obtains energy for growth from the oxidation of ammonia (NH3) to nitrite (NO2 -). This bacterium, along with other bacteria obtain their NH3, contribute biogeochemical cycling inorganic nitrogen. The product NH3 oxidation, NO2 -, becomes substrate oxidize - nitrate (NO3 Together, these two groups carry out process known as nitrification. In croplands where applied a nitrogen fertilizer, nitrification can lead loss because product, NO3 readily leached into ground and surface waters serves denitrification. Gaseous products include greenhouse gas nitrous oxide. treatment sewage, plays beneficial role in conversion denitrified N2. More recently, potential oxidizers degradation some environmental pollutants (e.g. chlorinated aliphatics) has been recognized.
