摘要: Immunologically based fertility control vaccines against zona pellucida (ZP) proteins are being developed in New Zealand for biocontrol of the brushtail possum (Trichosurus vulpecula), an introduced Australian marsupial pest. We have shown that immunization female possums with recombinant ZP3 protein (rZP3) reduced by 79%. To enhance specificity immunocontraceptive vaccines, B-cell epitopes on were mapped using sera immunized rZP3 and subjected to a trial. The amino acid sequence full-length was used synthesize complete set 83 (12-mer) biotinylated peptides each overlap five acids neighboring peptides. modified enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) identify continuous recognized antibodies rZP3. Sixteen identified protein. Comparison ELISA binding patterns these individual status rZP3-immunized only one epitope (amino 156-172) be associated infertility. However, this showed no significant reduction fertility. possible reasons failure potential infertility discussed.
