摘要: Abstract A comparative study on the tapering of natural quartz and potassium dihydrogen phosphate (KDP) crystals has been made. Both tapered KDP display similar surface microtopography featuring a large number tiny elongated growth islands striations regions. In addition to well accepted fact that trivalent metallic ions in aqueous solution can cause crystals, we find Pb 2+ same effect. This possibly originates from preferentially settled impurities embryonic crystallites along edges between two major faces.
