摘要: The present study examined intergroup judgments made between four groups of non-meat eaters: health vegetarians; ethical vegans, and vegans. Consistent with hypotheses based on horizontal hostility the need to maintain ingroup distinctiveness, vegetarians gave unfavorable evaluations relative especially when mainstream omnivore group was salient. Contrary expectations, vegans relatively more favorable than salience low. This true for who were motivated primarily by concerns. When high, did not distinguish vegetarian subgroups. Results suggest that one’s motives abstaining from meat often play a larger role in this type perceptions dietary practices.
